What do you need before you start?
You need a Windows PC with Klypix for Windows, an iPhone with Klypix for iPhone, and one Klypix account signed in on both.
- On the PC: download Klypix for Windows. The project workspace runs there.
- On the iPhone: get Klypix for iPhone on the App Store. There is no Android or iPad app.
- One account on both. The sync key that pairs the devices belongs to your account, so pairing, sending and Drive need you signed in. Your local projects on the PC work without signing in.
- A canvas made available to the iPhone, if you want to send to one specific canvas. See choosing a canvas.
How do you pair the iPhone with the PC?
You pair them once by scanning a code, so both devices hold the same private sync key. To pair from the PC:
- Open the pairing screen on the PC. In Klypix for Windows, go to Settings → Devices & Drive. Your pairing code is generated on your PC and stored encrypted there.
- Open Klypix on the iPhone. Tap Pair with your PC.
- Scan the QR code the PC shows.
Keep all your devices on the same key: items encrypted with one key do not open with another. Klypix cannot recover the key for you: if no device still holds it and you kept no copy of it, items encrypted with it cannot be opened.
How do you send something from the iPhone?
Use the iPhone share sheet: share the item, choose Klypix, pick where it goes, and send.
- Share the item. In Photos, Safari, Files or another app, tap Share on a photo, screenshot, file, link or piece of text. A screenshot is sent like any other photo.
- Choose Klypix. The share sheet shows Send to KLYPIX.
- Pick a destination. Under Send to, choose Your PC or a canvas you made available to the iPhone.
- Choose how it arrives, then tap Send. It can land on the canvas, or wait in your PC’s inbox for you to place it.
On the PC, a waiting item appears in the From your phone tray at the bottom-right of the canvas. From there you can place an item with a click or drag it to an exact spot, preview a photo, copy it, or remove it. An item sent to land is placed for you: on the canvas you named, while that canvas is open in Klypix, or, if you sent it to Your PC and it arrives within a few minutes, on the canvas in front of you. Anything Klypix cannot place for you waits in the tray. You can stop the iPhone from landing items in Settings → Devices & Drive on the PC.
For example, if you are planning a kitchen renovation, you can photograph a tile sample in the shop, share the photo to Klypix, and send it to the kitchen renovation canvas to land. If that canvas is open when your PC collects the photo, it lands there with the plans and quotes; otherwise it waits in the tray for you to place it.
Delivery is prompt but not instant, and it only happens while Klypix for Windows is running. Each send is a deliberate share. The app does not sync your whole phone or back up your camera roll.
How do you choose which canvas it lands on?
You choose the canvas in the iPhone share sheet. A canvas from your PC appears there once you make it available to the iPhone:
- Share the canvas to the cloud from Klypix for Windows. The canvas file is encrypted on your PC before it is uploaded; the canvas title is stored in readable form. See what a cloud share includes.
- Turn it on for the iPhone. In Settings → Devices & Drive, under Send from iPhone to these canvases, switch that canvas on.
- Update the iPhone’s list. Choose Sync to iPhone.
Of your PC’s canvases, only those shared to the cloud and switched on appear in the iPhone’s list and in Drive.
You can choose the exact canvas an item should land on, and where on it: items that have not been collected yet show as ghosts in the web viewer, and you can re-position them there before they land. A ghost is not part of the canvas file yet. It can become part of the canvas only after your PC collects it.
What happens if the PC is off?
The item waits in the cloud, encrypted, and reaches the PC the next time Klypix for Windows is running and online. In the meantime, you can open, download or place it from drive.klypix.com.
It does not arrive on the canvas while the PC is off. At most, it shows as a ghost pinned to that canvas in the web viewer. It can become part of the canvas only after your PC collects it.
One setting matters here. On the PC, Settings → Devices & Drive has a deadline for uncollected items. It is a deadline, not a deletion: once it passes, your PC stops collecting the item, but the item is not erased. If your PC is often off for long periods, choose a long deadline or Until I delete. Items you marked Keep on the iPhone are not affected by it.
What can you do in Klypix Drive?
Klypix Drive at drive.klypix.com is a sign-in web page that shows your storage use, your paired devices, the canvases you made available to your iPhone, and the items your phone sent. You can open and download items there.
To read your items in a browser, approve that browser once from Klypix on your PC or your iPhone. Drive then keeps a key for your account in that browser that cannot be exported, and the key is never sent to a server. A normal sign-out keeps the trusted browser; Sign out & forget removes its key.
Drive does not upload. It reads, decrypts in your browser, opens and downloads. It is not cloud storage for all your files, and of your PC’s canvases it lists only the ones you made available to your iPhone. Drive decrypts your list of items in your browser, but canvas names are stored in readable form on Klypix’s servers.
Can you send from the PC to the iPhone?
Yes. On a canvas in Klypix for Windows, right-click an item and choose Send to iPhone.
If you allow notifications on the iPhone, it can be notified when something arrives. The notification itself carries no content, only a pointer. Sending needs both devices signed in and paired.
This sends a copy of that item. It does not keep the phone and the PC in sync.
Can you search what you sent?
Yes, in Klypix for iPhone 1.1 and later, with limits. You can search what you sent by a word in a note, a file name or a link’s title. The phone turns the words into keyed fingerprints before they leave it, and the server matches fingerprints it cannot read or reverse.
Search does not cover everything:
- It matches whole words, and only from the first sixteen searchable words of a long note.
- A link is found by its title, once the phone has loaded it, not by its address.
- Search on the server does not match a number on its own, or a file type.
- Search on the server covers items sent from Klypix for iPhone 1.1 or later, from 17 September 2026 on. Older items, and notes, photos and files sent from the klypix.com web share page, are found only among messages the phone has already loaded.
- Items sent to a canvas shared by email invitation are not indexed for search.
The server can see which of your items share a fingerprint, and which fingerprints a search asks for. Searches are not stored as a search history by us; our hosting provider’s logs may record that a search happened and which of your spaces it looked in. How long do sent items stay in the cloud?
A sent item stays in the cloud until something removes it; your PC collecting it does not. Klypix for iPhone 1.1 and later lets you mark any item Keep: the server then holds its record and its encrypted attachment until you delete it, even while your PC is off.

The history setting is carried out by the iPhone, not by a timer on Klypix’s servers, so it waits until you open the app. Klypix’s servers do not run an automatic cleanup of your items today.
What can Klypix’s servers see?
Klypix’s servers store your item encrypted, along with the details needed to deliver it and find it. The item is encrypted on the iPhone before upload, and the key stays on your devices, except for a canvas shared by email invitation.
- Encrypted: the item itself, whether text, a link, a photo or a file. It is sealed with your sync key or, for a canvas you shared to yourself, with that canvas’s own key.
- Readable routing details: the account, the item type, the destination canvas, sent and expiry times, the Keep mark, the sending device, a short identifier of the key that sealed it (never the key), and a keyed fingerprint used to spot duplicates.
- Search fingerprints: a fixed-size set of keyed word fingerprints the server can match but cannot read or reverse. The size of the encrypted item still shows roughly how large it is.
- Canvas names are stored in readable form, like any canvas title.
- Canvases shared by email invitation: Klypix holds that canvas’s key so that invited people can open it. Items sent to that canvas are readable to Klypix and are not indexed for search.
- Device records: Klypix keeps a short record of each device you sign in on, such as its name, platform and app version, and counts sends per day and by kind in its own statistics.
The item’s content is encrypted (for a canvas shared by email invitation, with a key Klypix also holds); the routing details and canvas names above are readable. The privacy policy’s iPhone section lists exactly what is stored.
How much can you send?
A single upload can be up to 300 MB on the Free plan. Klypix Drive shows your storage use against your plan’s allowance; the Free plan lists 10 GB of Klypix Drive.
The server also enforces some safety limits: a ceiling on how many uncollected phone items can wait, a ceiling on how many items an account has sent and not marked Keep, and a separate ceiling on how many it can mark Keep. See pricing for current plan details.
What are the limits?
- Apps for iPhone and Windows only. There is no Android, iPad or Mac app. On other phones, klypix.com/s can be installed to the home screen as a share target in browsers that support it.
- Not instant. The PC collects items while Klypix for Windows is running. With the PC off, items wait in the cloud.
- Not a phone backup. Only the items you choose to share are sent to your PC. Your camera roll and files are not backed up.
- Not two-way sync. Sending from the PC to the iPhone sends a copy of one item.
- No key recovery. If no device still holds your sync key and you kept no copy of it, items encrypted with it cannot be opened.
- Search is partial. See what search covers.
- Drive reads; it does not upload. It opens and downloads what your phone sent.
- Routing details are readable. Only the item’s content is encrypted. See what the servers can see.
